Cashier

Job Description:

As a Cashier at Corner Bakery, you will play a key role in delivering exceptional guest service while ensuring accurate financial transactions and maintaining a clean, welcoming environment. You will handle cash handling, operate the POS system, and engage in upselling to enhance the guest experience. Additionally, you will prepare coffee, tea, and specialty drinks, maintain display cases, and assist with food preparation such as frosting cakes and cutting brownies. Your responsibilities will also include FOH setup, condiment station maintenance, and supporting restaurant operations as needed.

Cashier Key Responsibilities:

• Process cash, credit, and debit transactions accurately using the POS system.

• Prepare and serve coffee, tea, and specialty beverages (barista duties).

• Maintain display cases and ensure fresh, appealing product presentation.

• Set up and restock condiment stations, bakery displays, and FOH areas.

• Answer phone calls and provide menu descriptions, including allergen and nutrition information.

• Engage in upselling and suggestive selling to maximize sales.

• Frost cakes, cut bars/brownies, and package bakery items.

• Keep front-of-house (FOH) fully stocked and organized.

• Empty trash, sweep, and mop as needed.

• Assist with Expo, bussing, and cleanup when required.

• Follow food safety, sanitation, and company policies.

• Communicate effectively with guests and resolve issues promptly.

Cashier Secondary Duties:

• Deliver food orders to tables.

• Bus and clean dining areas.

• Restock supplies and check restroom cleanliness.

• Support food prep and other tasks as assigned.

Cashier Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Food handler card or ServSafe certification (as required by state).

• 3+ months of cash handling experience (restaurant or retail preferred).

• Strong guest service, communication, and math skills.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced bakery/café environment.

• Proficient in POS systems and basic computer operations.

• Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
