Hot Cook

Job Summary:

Corner Bakery is looking for a skilled, reliable, and energetic Hot Cook to join our back-of-house culinary team. In this vital kitchen role, you will be responsible for preparing hot menu items to recipe specifications, ensuring food quality, safety, and presentation meet our high standards. You’ll work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, contributing to the overall guest experience through exceptional food preparation and kitchen support.

Hot Cook Responsibilities:

• Prepare and cook a variety of hot food items including pastas, soups, breakfast dishes, and grilled specialties according to standardized recipes

• Operate kitchen equipment such as grills, ovens, and stovetops in a safe and efficient manner

• Monitor food temperatures and presentation to ensure all items meet quality and safety standards

• Maintain a clean and organized work area, following all sanitation and food handling procedures

• Assist with receiving and storing deliveries, ensuring proper inventory rotation (FIFO)

• Coordinate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely and efficient food preparation and service

• Support in training new cooks and assisting with cross-functional kitchen duties

• Adhere to all health department, safety, and company guidelines

Hot Cook Secondary Functions:

• Support prep cooks and dishwashers during busy hours

• Participate in daily opening, closing, and cleaning routines

• Assist with line setup, restocking, and maintaining food prep stations

• Take initiative to troubleshoot or report any kitchen issues to management

Hot Cook Requirements:

• High school diploma or currently pursuing one

• Minimum 6 months to 1 year of cooking experience in a commercial kitchen preferred

• Ability to read and follow recipes accurately

• Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices

• Able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds

• Team-oriented with excellent communication and time management skills

• Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Foodhandler Card or ServSafe certification

• Willingness to work flexible shifts including mornings, weekends, and holidays
